Representative browser test
On August 12, 2026, we tested JPEG, PNG, and WebP exports in a Chromium browser on macOS with retained first-party geometry charts.
- A 2160 x 2160 WebP exported at 50% to 1080 x 1080 WebP (26.2 KB).
- A 2560 x 1440 WebP exported at 200% to 5120 x 2880 WebP (96.1 KB).
- The five working canvases exported at their stated dimensions: 1080 x 1080, 1080 x 1350, 1200 x 627, 1500 x 500, and 1280 x 720.
- A transparent 900 x 600 PNG retained transparency in PNG output; JPEG output used a white background.
The retained outputs verify these dimensions, formats, and fit behaviors for the stated fixtures. They do not prove recovered detail, universal file sizes, or platform upload acceptance.

Important limits
The resizer does not identify a subject or choose a smart crop. A centered crop can remove content near the edges, Fit whole image can add transparent or white space, and Stretch can distort geometry. Output is limited to 8,000 pixels per side and 16 million pixels in total. Enlarging does not restore missing detail; JPEG and WebP exports are lossy.

How do I resize without stretching?
Keep the aspect ratio locked for a custom size. If the destination needs a different shape, use Crop to fill and inspect the trimmed edges, or Fit whole image and accept empty space.
Does making an image larger improve its detail?
No. The export has more pixels, but resizing alone cannot recover information that was not captured in the source.
Which social media size should I choose?
Start with the destination aspect ratio and its current official guidance. The built-in canvases are convenient working sizes, not a guarantee that every platform will display the file without another crop.
